Today it works in what was the Laguna de los Padres ranch on the shores of the homonymous lagoon founded by Don Ladislao Martínez Castro, together with his brother. As a guest of these, José Hernández arrived at the ranch in 1848 at the hands of his father, remaining in the place for about four years. There he knew intimately the customs of the gaucho and the environment in which he developed his existence; Surely his experiences and memories that he would keep from that stage of his life inspired him to create Martín Fierro, a masterpiece of vernacular literature.
From the current collection, daggers and facones of various kinds, manuscripts of General San Martín and other patriots deserve to be highlighted; and among the works of art: paintings by Castagnino; Monticelli and sculptures by Chacho Waks. The Regional Historical sector provides an overview of the evolution in our region from 10,000 years BC to the present.
Under one of the eaves of the building you can see carriages from the last century, the one that was a means of transporting passengers and the coupe used by one of the first doctors in the area, Dr. Juan H. Jara, to visit their patients.
